For people who like taking care of pets, this animal shelter simulation game will be a blast. Mini Pets lets you take care of a wide variety of animals, from the usual dog to the more exotic flavors, like a Bengal Tiger. There are also breeds here that you can come up with by crossing unlikely pairs of animals together. Ever heard of a Siamese tiger? In this game, you can come up with that by taking a tiger and a Siamese cat out on a “date,” which means basically cross-breeding the two cat species together.

Animals are the center of this virtual world, and you’ll know why. To adopt an animal, you need to go to the Adopt menu and pick an animal that you want to take care of. At the beginning, you’ll be restricted to only the animals that have been specified by the first few quests that you’ll undertake. Think of these quests as a tutorial; after a few guided quests, you’ll be on your own.

When you decide to adopt a specific animal, you’ll be asked to build a shelter for the animal. At level 1, the shelter can only hold 1 animal, so you’ll have to upgrade if you want to add more animals for that particular shelter. Why would you want to that? That’s how you earn income in order to support the shelter. Each shelter returns an income after a specific amount of time, and the amount of in-game cash that you can receive depends on how many individuals of that particular animal is in your shelter. So, upgrade those shelters if you want to earn better income for your animal home.

There are also structures that you can build in Mini Farm that returns income but does not need to shelter an animal. In a theme park setting, these would have been the concessionaires that sell hotdogs, candies and souvenirs in the sidelines. These structures give better income than animal shelters, but they take a longer time than shelters in allowing you to collect.

Take note that you need caretakers when you adopt animals. Certain numbers require a specific number of caretakers to address their needs. You’ll have to take into account the number of caretakers in your shelter and how many more you need in order to adopt a particular animal.

Keep playing, and the game will reward you with Experience points. Accumulate enough experience points, and you will move up in level. Leveling up comes not only with the requisite rewards of Diamonds (special items that you use to speed up constructions, upgrades and breeding) and in-game cash; it also unlocks structures and animals that you can add to your growing shelter.

If you’re an animal lover and you’re looking for a good game that you can relate with, then give Mini Pets a try! It’s totally free to play on Facebook and at the Miniclip website.
